Tiny Ballerinas

My daughters' dance team had an ornament exchange and we were traveling right before so I cross stitched 2 tiny ballerinas for the exchange.  Love them!

Table Runner for a New Home

My brother and sister in law just purchased their first house.  I love this table runner pattern...super quick and pretty.  The fabric is Zen chic with a soft grey background.

Mini Quilt Swap

This is the mini that I received in my mini swap on Instagram.

Here are the quilts on my mini wall.  I made the tulip one for my Grandma and sadly she recently passed away.  My Mom made sure I got the quilt back.

I plan on adding more minis to my wall.

Cross Stitching

I've been busy and traveling so I needed something portable.  I just finished Pretty Little San Francisco by Satsuma Street and mailed it to my aunt who lives just outside of San Fran.  Satsuma Street has some super cute, modern patterns.

Birthday Pillowcases

My nephew was very concerned as to what "auntie" pillowcase he was going to use between Halloween and Christmas.

My sister had me order some birthday fabric and now each family will have a birthday pillowcase to use.

Mini Quilt

In addition to the Bonnie and Camille ornament swap on Instagram I also participated in a Bonnie and Camille Dream Mini Quilt swap as well.  Here is my finished quilt for my swap buddy.  It finishes at roughly 12x12.

I backed it in a piece of Bliss fabric that I had but wasn't in love with.  Hopefully my swap buddy loved it and all the time that went into hand piecing this mini.

Ornament Swap

I joined a Bonnie and Camille fabric Christmas ornament swap on Instagram. Only rules were that you had to use Bonnie and Camille fabrics and there are no extras in the packages...only the ornaments.

I made two state ornaments with little hearts for my buddy's hometowns and a mitten for my other swap buddy because Massachusetts was just too hard to cut out.  I'm sticking these in the mail on Monday.

Friday Finishes

I finished a little knitted star ornament this morning using this free pattern.  I am not good at double pointed needle knitting so I knit these straight and then sew them up.  I made two stars and sew them together, right sides, and add a little loop.  You can't tell from the photo but this is sparkly yarn.  I will be attaching this to a Christmas gift.

I also finished up a table runner for my husband's grandma.  I received a free mini charm pack of Avalon with a quilt kit that I purchased.  While I think the fabric is pretty it is not my style.  I had purchased a pattern that uses mini charms and was able to find yardage on Etsy for the backing.

My sewing time has been very limited as we have spent lots of time with my Dad.  He was making cognitive strides in rehab but wasn't making physical gains.  He was supposed to get "kicked out" of rehab and ended up with a UTI.  They did a CT scan of his bladder and kidneys and caught his pelvis at the same time.  The poor guy has been suffering with a broken hip for the last four weeks!!  The initial doctor's missed the broken hip after he had his seizure...no wonder he wasn't making physical improvements.  He had a hip replacement Monday evening and is now slowly recovering.

Easy Peasy Table Runner

I needed a quick and mindless project (and some retail therapy) so I headed to my local quilt store and picked up the fabric and pattern for this super quick and easy table runner.  I ended up ordering some fabric to make another one using a mini charm pack I have of Avalon.

I needed quick and easy because things are crazy and chaotic over here...back to school, two children on the competition dance team, work and my Dad.

Last Saturday morning (more like middle of the night) he had a seizure and when he fell he hit his head.  He was rushed to the hospital via ambulance before he was stabilized and transported our home town.  He had been at the cottage with my Mom.

They completed another MRI and I'm happy to tell you that there are no tumors.  They suspect radiation damage. Due to the head trauma he has some fluid and blood around the brain space that is taking its sweet time getting re absorbed.  He is now in acute brain rehabilitation to learn to perform normal life activities again.  I know I've said it before but I hate brain cancer.  Please keep my Dad in your thoughts and prayers...that he has a quick recovery and is able to come back home.

Swoon Finish

I received my finished Swoon quilt from the quilter back at the beginning of August and wanted to wait to post finished photos until it went to its new home.

I delivered the quilt to the newly married couple last week.  These photos were taken the morning we left for California.

The quilting is a snowflake pattern with swirls that plays really well off the background fabric that is filled with snowflakes.  There is a nice layer of wool batting to keep the new couple nice and toasty around Christmas.

Some close-ups of the quilting.

I love this backing...and I love this quilt...so much so that I have the supplies to make myself one.  The blocks will be different combinations but it will be the same fabric line and I am so very excited about this!  I had a really hard time giving this one up because I love it so much!

Snapshots Block #3

I am slowly, but surely, catching up with the Snapshots Quilt Along.  Here is block #3.  I have four more to make to be all caught up, but considering I didn't have any made at the beginning of June I think I'm doing pretty good.

Monday Star Count

I only added 2.5 stars to the count making my total 54.5.  It was too hot to sit and stitch... So I swam with the kids 😊

I am linking up with Life Under Quilts for the Monday Morning Star Count.

Monday Evening Star Count

My traveling quilt is my Summer project.  I can take it to our cottage and easily stitch while the girls swim.

I'm up to 52 stars with no real plan in place.  Each star is from scraps of quilts I've made.  There will not be any duplicates.

These were added this weekend.

Snapshots

I've had the quilt kit but hadn't cut into t until last week...I'm not sure why I waited. I'm in love 😊

Christmas Sewing

I needed something quick and easy to sew and had purchased a layer cake from Bunnyhill Designs and the Me and My Sister Designs Makin' it Cute Mitten pattern.  I was able to make 3 mittens from 2 slices of the layer cake...add a little ribbon and you have a perfect little ornament.

My first mini

finished my first mini quilt and it definitely won't be my last.  This was a gift for my grandma on her 87th birthday yeaterday.  She lives in a nursing home so we have to be careful of how much stuff she has and how big it is.

The fabric is Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille and the pattern is by Thimble Blossoms.

Some more Swoon

I finished my blocks tonight.  Here are two of the last three...I need to take a photo of the missing block but the lighting is terrible right now.

I have fabric to make myself a quilt as well and originally was going to make the same pattern.  Instead I'm going to make Swoon Sixteen.  I had to order an extra 1.5 yards to sash the block since I didn't want to sash in white.

Art Gallery Quilt

I made an EPP kit for my friend and add scraps of fabric to it whenever I make a quilt.  As a thank you she purchased a yummy fat quarter stack of Art Gallery fabrics for me.  The stack came with a pattern and I added some fabric to make it a bit bigger.

I love the almost silky feel of Art Gallery fabrics.  The backing is quite possibly one of my all time favorites.

My quilt holder wanted her own photo op since she stood out in the rain so I could get some photos.

I was hoping for some good river photos but it is a rainy gloomy Memorial Day.

Swoon

I have had the Swoon quilt pattern for ages...in fact I have the original Swoon quilt kit in my closet.  I love the pattern and the fabric but never committed to making it...I think it was a time issue.

I decided to make a Christmas Swoon using Kate Spain's Solstice line and I am in love!  I can't wait to make my Swoon quilt with the Bonnie and Camille fabrics. I have fabric to make myself a Swoon Christmas quilt but I think I may make he new Swoon pattern.

I have 6 blocks finished and 3 to go.  I should probably call my long arm quilter and make an appointment to get this lovely quilted.

Swoon

I'm in love!  I don't know why I waited so long to jump on the swoon bandwagon. I am making a Christmas Swoon using Kate Spain's Solstice line.

Since I have the perfect trimmings from the flying geese blocks I'm making little pinwheel blocks for a table topper for my husband's grandmother for Christmas.
