It's Finished!!
**Warning, this is a photo filled post** I am so excited to have this quilt finished. This was the 2012-2013 Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Block of the Month using Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille. I have spent the last week, off and on, hand stitching the binding down. I love the look of hand sewn binding and since this quilt is staying in my house (that's right, I made myself a quilt!) I had to hand sew the binding down. The tag is made and will be sewn on this afternoon.

2012-2013 Mystery Block of the Month
To say I am excited about this finish is an understatement. From the minute I found out that the 2012-2013 Mystery Block of the Month from www.fatquartershop.com was going to use Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille I couldn't wait to begin. I finished the quilt up last night and took the photos this morning.
Two of my favorite blocks in the quilt. I love, love, love the grey and red one!
I purchased a different fabric for the backing than the one that was offered in the program. The grey pebble fabric in the photo above will be the backing. I am making a phone call to a new (to me) long arm quilter who is much much closer to my house to have this one quilted. I have been quilting my own quilts for the last 3 years and decided it was time to have one quilted by someone else. The best thing is that this is mine, all mine. I have never made a quilt for me, they always go to someone else.

Friday Finishes
I finished up another row of the 2012-2013 block of the month through Fatquartershop.com. I'm excited for the remaining three blocks and I plan on making the borders and binding this weekend.
After I took the beautiful snow pictures, I realized my last row had all the geese flying south...
My girls and I played with scrapbook paper, glitter and mod podge to make initial letters for their bedroom doors. They will be surprised when they get home to see the letters hanging on their doors. I spray glued some scraps of batting to the backs to eliminate clinkin when doors are closed :)
Happy Friday!!!!

The block below had to be made and remade twice...I sewed the grey flying geese sections incorrectly...as shown below, the fabric needed to be sewn directionally. All us well now :)
so after some seam ripping I have fixed the row so half my geese are flying north and half my geese are flying south.

So many works in progress
I am hoping to post some finished projects in the next few days. In the meantime, here is a finished Farmer's wife block (#2, Autumn Trails)

Three finishes this week!
First, I quilted and bound two quilts that are going to their new owners this week. I have been machine binding recently and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed hand binding both of the quilts. They are washed and all crinkly! I also pieced some flying geese and put the first row of the 2012-2013 mystery block of the month quilt together.

Farmer's Wife Quilt
Block #1, Attic Windows
The blocks are all inspired from the letters of 1920's farm wives. There are a total of 111 blocks. I have no time frame on this quilt and am going to make blocks every now and again using scraps. I am excited to see what this quilt looks like when I am finished (maybe in a year or 2 or 3).
