For my littlest...she wouldn't sleep last night until her baby had her sleeping bag :)

American Girl Sleeping Bag

My daughters are fabric and American Girl obsessed.  They both indicated that their dolls needed a place to sleep on weekends while we are at our cottage.  They also both fell in love with Posy by Aneela Hoey.  Each girl laid out her own charm pack an I stitched them up.  I finished K's sleeping bag today.  I'm waiting on some backing (or lining) fabric to come in the mail for N's sleeping bag. I horribly miscalculated.  I used the leftover charms to make a pillow for the sleeping bag.

I needed to quilt

It's been a little while since I actually quilted a quilt...the Christmas present was a couple of weeks ago.  My life has been stressful.  My Dad fell after chemo and has a compression fracture at T12.  They are waiting to perform a procedure to essentially fil the vertebrae with cement....in the mean time he is on quite the pain regimen....which has made him loopy...so loopy that his neurologist ordered a CT this evening.  I was a hot mess while I waited for the results....they are clear...no tumor regrowth.

thank you God!

I've been driving back and forth as often as possible from my house to my parent's....1.5 hours a way. It's been hard balancing the kids, work and studying for an upcoming exam for work so when I finished up work a little early yesterday I decided to leave my kids at daycare a little longer and I quilted and it felt so good.  I was originally going to donate this quilt, but my nephew is obsessed with all things that live in the ocean and my sister saw the quilt...she loved it and asked if I could give it to R for Christmas.  So R is getting this from his auntie for Christmas.  The tag is sewn on and I am hand stitching the binding.  On top of sewing yesterday, I got to have a fun dinner date with my girls, a friend and her daughter and spend some time at the playground...a much needed stress relief.

Christmas Gift Finished

I pieced the back to this quilt a couple of weeks ago and quilted it in a loopy pattern, a first for me. All I have to say is I am glad the back is busy because it hides some density issues. Oh well. It is hand bound and will be wrapped up tonight. I love the scrappy binding.

Donations

I came across this Charlotte's blog via a link up party and was touched by everything her family is going through and how her Mom is auctioning quilts to raise money for brain cancer research.  My life has been forever changed by brain cancer.  Please consider a financial donation or a quilt donation....http://charlottesgraceforacure.blogspot.com/2013/07/quilting-for-me-next-years-auction.html?showComment=1375753448591#c8298104086410691680

A quilt for an almost 3 year old

My almost three year old is very opinionated and knows what she likes  and what she doesn't like.  She has been asking  for a pink and orange quilt for quite some time as those are her favorite colors.  I came across the line Honey Honey and she decided that she loves it even if it had other colors besides pink and orange.

I needed a quick and easy pattern as August is very busy for us and her birthday is in early September.  I am using a pattern from the Moda Bakeshop using a dessert roll with a slight pattern modification to make it a bit wider.
